Robert McClary, also known as Billy to his friends and family, is a native of Columbia, South Carolina. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Management from the University of Management and Technology. Additionally, he is a graduate of the prestigious United States Army Sergeants Major Academy. Billy dedicated 30 years to serving in the US Army, where he held various leadership roles, culminating in his position as the Aviation Brigade Command Sergeant Major. In this capacity, he was responsible for the individual training, welfare, and well-being of over 3,000 Soldiers and their families. He also managed the maintenance of 46 military aircraft and oversaw the deployments of multiple aviation units. His leadership extended to his role as Commandant of the US Army’s Non-Commissioned Officers Academy at Ft. Jackson, SC. Following his retirement from the Army, Billy transitioned to a career as a Goodwill Ambassador for Florida Citrus Sports, where he also served as a member of the Bowl Selection Committee and College Scout. He remains committed to ongoing professional development, attending annual recertification in Scout Training. As a Scout, Billy is actively involved in the college football season, attending ACC, Big 10, Big 12, and SEC games. Billy’s passion for football has recently inspired a career change into the sports management industry. He is a recent graduate of Sports Management Worldwide’s Football General Management & Scouting program, where he learned from industry leaders including NFL legend John Wooten, Russ Lande, and Dane Vandernat. His training includes NFL scouting techniques, general management practices, statistical analysis, scouting reports, and a deep understanding of NFL collective bargaining agreements. |
